TGWS upgrade works

At a meeting with Galway & Clare councils, the NFGWS (National Federation of Group Water Schemes), agreement to proceed with cleaning of TGWS water network, and drilling & connection of production well to existing network was given, pending submission of appropriate application (currently in progress) was given by Galway County Council.

The aim is that the work should be started, and ideally completed, before the end of the year.

Even where there are appropriate fittings we have to assume they're no longer serviceable so renewal and installation of new fittings is a required so that cleaning of the network can take place. This work started today.

There will be outages during daytime hours on branch being worked on, and these will be communicated by text alert when water turned off and restored (Important: if you are not currently receiving these alerts, please contact sean collins).

More detail will be posted on this blog as things progress, and notification of specific outages, etc will be communicated by text alert

Attached below are maps of the network showing position and type of fittings to be installed. This is the first phase which consists of the valves necessary for cleaning only; another set of fittings will be installed as best practice to assist with leak detection.
